Lesson Plan 2 and concept map.

15 comments:

  1. so for this week we each have to do a lesson plan and I was thinking of doing mine on the different traditions held by the students. For my data collection i think i am going to have the students survey each other about what meals are typically served for their own holiday dinner. I am not sure if this would be too broad. If it is then i may just limit it to a dessert maybe. This lesson will show that people celebrate holidays differently and also get the students thinking about what food they may want to include in our community dinner.

I also am a little confused on the concept map part of this week. Are we all working together to create an updated concept map?

  2. As of now I think I am going to collect data on how many family members each students will invite. To do this, I will collect a poll from the students. I think I will limit the students to 5 guests unless otherwise approved by us. This will then let us know how many invitations we will need. I am going to look over the assignments again later and make sure I'm on the right track

  3. Also how many students should we have in our class?

  4. I think what I will do is break students up into groups, I then will have them price data from retailers. I will have them use ingredients that we may include in the holiday community dinner. The groups will each choose two ingredients and then must find the price of the ingredient from 4 retailers. They will be able to use the internet to find grocery ads. This will allow us to find out where we should buy the ingredients.

Also Becca, from what I understood we will be updating the concept map and reposting it.

  5. For the concept Map:
Do we want to add more branches for the invites?

I added Ramadan (a muslim December holiday ) to the concept map.

Also I am starting a branch for the interactive display boards at the event

  6. the display boards could go under decorations! Also for the concept map we could actually pick a meal and then put the ingredients under the materials or the my plate curriculum. Also under the RSVP branch we could potentially add how we will keep track.

Also I wanted to let you guys know that i will be upnorth this weekend without internet access. I am leaving Friday at noon and will be back Sunday at 6 and i can add my changes before i leave and then any final adjustments i can make when i get back if i need to. The concept map does have to be posted by a new member though and i posted it last time so that is something to keep in mind too. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience!!

  7. I can post the final concept map this time! I can look up a recipe today to add to it and then add the ingredients under it. I really like that idea Becca!

  8. I just edited the concept map. I moved the MyPlate category to go under nutrition instead of under food. Then under food, I added five dishes. I added at least one dish for every holidays traditions.

  9. I will be without access until Sunday night as well. Thank you Madelyn for posting it this time, when we do the final concept map I will post that one!

I moved the display boards under decorations.

Also I was thinking what if students put together a class cookbook? It could feature traditions and recipes included in the dinner, just a thought, let me know what you think!

  10. I like that idea! What category should we put the cook book under? After we add the cookbook, I feel like it will be ready to post. I don't know what else really to add.

    1. How about under Cost-fundraising? That could be a way to raise money for the event, by asking for donations or selling them.

I agree, I think it will be ready to post as well.
